TGIF!

Seriously!  It's been a crazy busy week at work!  Many of you have asked what I've been doing with all of my time in the islands ... so far, feels like I'm still living my Charlotte lifestyle - busy at work all day, then going out with friends at night ... just with a better view!

I made it to the airport yesterday in my first attempt driving on the left - thanks to a GPS, map, and directions from my rental car friend.  Missed the turn for the 'scenic route' (which later came to find out is just a bunch of shops, but now I know where Kmart is!), so I ended up on the highway - was a little nervous at first, but then when I passed a guy walking his horse down the middle of the lanes, I was more comfortable that this would not be quite like our highways back home.  Jen made it safe and sound and has been an awesome co-pilot since.  We are still trying to learn the rules of the road, considering not quite sure our right of way rules exist the same around here?!?  So excited to have her be my first visitor!!

We met up with Kirby and Andy last night for trivia at Rhythms.  Had so much fun even though I didn't know any of the answers - guess I'll need to brush up on my Trivial Pursuit questions.  Love the food here - had the Maui Waui (a recommendation of Jeff) - grilled ham, cheese and pineapple sandwich with a side of coconut curry chick peas.  Delish!  Of course the fruity drinks were just as delicious ... (and I'm sure the dog who got a Guiness for his 21st birthday would say the same!  Which also reminds me that we need to check out the bar famous for the drinking pig - now that's my type of place!)

This morning Jen went for an 8 mile run ... came back half way for a water break (though she should have just jumped in the Caribbean, like the guy she saw bathing his horse!).  Guess it's a little warmer down here than in Peoria.  She got called out by one of the locals who said to her "Hola, white girl"!  Then we walked to lunch and were greeted by other folks hanging out at the fish market - we appreciated the "hey beautiful" comment, but then someone followed up with "she's gotta big butt!"  Okay, NOT what I want to hear on my way to lunch!

After work we hit up the Cruzan Rum factory for tour and 'samples' ... let's just say that the mixers cost more than than the rum down here!  Then met up with Lisa and Jeff at Coconuts - great little hangout, awesome sunset, met lots of cool people (including the trivia champions from last night at Rhythms), as well as the owners from Texas - sounds like they serve up quite the BBQ on Sundays!

Tomorrow's projects:  celebrate Jen's birthday, tour around the island, and put up the hammock!
